Place of Death

Now, here’s a question about death: Where do you think we go to after we have died?

This isn’t a tough question for neither ancient Greeks, Egyptian, or Norse peoples…These people have their own stories about this question.

Well, for the Greeks, they believe people will go to the underworld of Hades, Erebus after death. The Greeks buried the death with a coin; they believe the coin will be used to pay the sailor of the river Stynx. And those raging souls will become shades for vengeance. Hades, the god of death rules over the underworld.

As for the Egyptians, I know only the Pharaohs, they keep Pharaoh’s organ is a box and place the body inside a coffin. The corpse was preserved tidily and stored in the center of the Pyramid, guarded by a Sphinx.

The Norse people, on the other hand, believed people who didn’t die in war go to the fiery place of Hel, the daughter of Loki. There the soul doesn’t have any peace, they suffer. But the warriors who died in battle will go to Asgard, lead by Valkyries, maidens of Odin.

We Chinese believe a good person will become a part of god after he/she has died, the bad person suffer in the hell. And the normal one reborn as a man or animal, it depends on his/her value.
